Flesh Tearers!

Well, its been a while since my last update, and even longer since pictures!  Lately I have been hammering away at getting my Flesh Tearers fully done, and I have almost completed 2250 points worth.

Here are the pics, most of which are still WIP:

Land Raider:  Ive had this built for over a year now, and just finally got around to painting him.  It was one of my first attempts at spraying a tank, and I am relatively happy with how it came out.

Baal Predator:  This was almost part of my first spraying attempt, and like the land Raider, I am pleased with the outcome.  Just have to paint /mount the storm bolter.

Rhino - This guy has been through about 3 different schemes before this one, which is going to be his final home.

Dreadnaught -  I have plans on making this guy with 2 Auto Cannons, however, since I have not put in the order from Forgeworld for the arms yet, I am keeping him as the stock AoBR dread.

Army shot:  And here is the full army with a couple proxies.  I plan on getting a Terminator Librarian and 3 Sanguinary Priests to completely finish it off.

Anyways, thats it for today.  Let me know what you think, C&C is always appreciated.

Cheers!

June Update and July Goals!

Well, again, its been over a month since I have posted and during that time I have been busy with work as well as Diablo, however, with the release of 6th Edition, I am getting motivated to start painting again.  I recently picked up some more Dark Eldar as well as a Changeling which I am painting for the hell of it... just like the model.

For June I also took part in a painting deathmatch over at the Miniwargaming forums, and managed to finish my squad of 5 wyches, however, I wasn't overly pleased with them, so a re-think is in order for my color schemes.

Now onto the results of our Goals.  This month was a good month for Kroxx, as he was able to not only complete his goal of 10 points, he exceeded it, completing the month with a total of 15.  Myself, however, I failed yet again.  I only managed 5 points of my 10 point goal.  This month I plan on keeping the same goal, 10 points, and seeing if I can get there, where Kroxx is setting a goal of 10 points.

Anyways, that is all for this update, hopefully there will be some pics of progress soon.

Cheers!

May Update!

Well, it has been a while since I have posted, mainly because significant progress has not been made in the painting department.  Diablo 3 was released last month, and as one can imagine, much of my time has been spent in Sanctuary destroying demons.  That being said, my goal for May has failed completely and utterly.  Not a single point was painted.  Kroxx has also failed his goal, however, he did manage to get 10 points finished.

New Goals:  For June, I am going to cut back my goal to 10 points.  Hopefully my entry into a Painting Deathmatch on miniwargaming will provide some motivation.  Kroxx has decided to cut back as well, despite his progress, and has set a goal for 15 points.  Wish us luck!

Now, other than Diablo 3, I received my order of Dark Eldar from the miniwargaming store and have begun assembling them.  Here is the progress:

Assembled:
2 Ravagers
2 Raiders
1 Venom
6 Jetbikes
2 Haemonculi
5 Scourge
10 Warriors

To Be Assembled:
1 Haemonculous
5 Wracks
20 Warriors
20 Wyches

I will post some individual pics shortly.  Here is a shot of the whole army thus far:

Goals and Progress!

Well, after sitting down last night, I was able to finally finish off my Warrior for the monthly Painting Deathmatch over on the Miniwargaming painting forums.  I am pleased with how it came out, although I can see some areas I would have liked to have cleaned up a bit, but time ran out, so here it is:

Now, I have been browsing around a few of the painting forums, and I came across Fourth Company Librarium.  The painting is excellent, but what stood out for me was the points system.   Now this system gives each unit type a point value and allows you to set goals and track progress around these points.  Now, I have modified the values slightly, but these are the values as Kroxx and I are going to use:

Infantry = 1 Point
Cavalry = 2 Points
Bikes = 2 Points
Monster = 5 Points
Dreadnought = 5 Points
HQ = 5 Points
Vehicle = 10 Points
Superheavy vehicle = 20 Points

I will be adding a section to the site to allow us to keep track of our points and goals, but for now, our goals are as follows:

May 2012
Kroxx: 20 Points
Sarkastik: 15 Points

Now I have set my goal slightly lower, because at this point, that is the remainder of my models for my Dark Eldar, apart from a Haemonculous which needs a lot of green stuff work, thanks to Citadel's Finecast, and thus I don't think I will have the time to re-sculp some parts and get everything painted.  He will probably on the schedule for June.

Anyways, thanks for looking, and leave comments and as always C&C is always welcome!

Cheers!

Motivation issues... Small Update.

Well, as you can tell it has been a while since I have posted an update.  Almost a month to be exact, and of course, shortly before my previous post, I had decided to attempt to do something hobby related every day to show at least some progress.  This was started over on the miniwargaming.com forums and has attracted quite the following.  Its impressive to see the quantity and especially the quality of the work that has been completed, but, for some reason, I find myself losing steam.  Maybe its painting the same colors over and over, the same models, and though switching armies helps (but hurts the wallet...) the result is the same, a squad or two in and I am losing focus, be it to color-boredom or other things (League of Legends, Diablo 3 beta...) and no  matter what I do to try and get back on track, either through blogging, forum-lurking or painting death matches, motivation always comes and goes in waves.

That being said, any suggestions for staying motivated once I get back into it?

The above being said, this is what I have been working on this weekend:
 Its not quite finished, just some final armor work on the arms and some details, but its getting there.  I had wanted to do a not-black Dark Eldar scheme, just because I was tired of seeing the same thing with a different spot-color.  I had originally tried a yellowish scheme, as you can see on the Venom and Lelith in previous posts, but decided it wasn't to my liking, so here is my latest test, a whitish armor scheme with Dark Skin (from the old citadel range) as the spot color.

TL;DR - Don't like Dark - Dark Eldar, here is a white one:

Lelith Update!

Well, finally was able to sit down and get some progress done on Lelith, and she is almost done.  Just have to finish up some facial details and the eyes, and a few other random details.

Here are the pics:

Skulltaker Painting

Kroxx here again from Chaos Bound, today I am posting pictures and my personal steps taken to complete my skulltaker, who will be my General for my ever growing Khorne army.  My army is going to be called Khorne's Chosen so for most my models were normally you would see brass or bronze I will be using Gold as they are Khorne's most fierce and brutal warriors.

I ripped the finecast out of the blister pack, cleaned him up and got him base coated:
I didnt start taking step by step picks until was about 25% done so I will start with the basics I did and then move to the step by steps.

First I gave all his armour a coat of  Iyanden Darksun and his body a coat of Mechrite red, then gave him body a wash with Badab Black and then used Blood Red ontop.
Next I gave his body a wash of Devlin Mud which helped tone it down and give some highlights.
Before Wash

After Wash
Next I started his cloak, the updates will be in the caption for what I did.  Also I repeated the same steps for the skulls under his feet and the ones his horns wrap around on his head, but I did not take pictures for them.
Starting with the undercoat black

Dry brush on Bleached Bone

A little devlin mud goes on top

A light dry brush of Bleach Bone again

A light dry brush of Skull White

Iyanden Darksun on the hooks

Brunished Gold on the hooks to finish them off
For the Sword I left it black, and decided to go with the lava lightning on it, I put a layer of Mechrite red down, after that I put a slightly narrower layer of blood red, after that I put a narrower layer of blazing orange and finally a very narrow line of sun burst yellow.  Here is a picture of the sword completed with his head and foot.
These skulls are completed in the same steps as the cloak

Next I started on the skull in his hand, for the skull and spine I just used Bleached Bone and then devlin mud, I wanted it to be darker because it is engulfed in flames after all, but I did not take pictures of the steps for the skull.  Below are the steps I used to paint the flames on the skull.
Covered all the flames in Iyanden Darksun
Dry brush of Sunburst Yellow

Next I dry brushed blazing Orange on the tips
Dry brush of Blood Red on the tips of the flames

Finally a light dry brush of Undercoat Black and the tips to give it the burnt look
For his armour I used burnished gold

And finally after some touch ups on the cloak and skin he is complete!

Here are some pics of him and with a few of the bloodletters I have completed.

Thanks for reading guys and I hope it gave you some ideas on what to do for your own Daemons.

I will be posting my army progress pictures along with all battle reports Sarkastik and I make on Chaos Bound (link above) and I will be posting some more of my work here in the future.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments and feel free to give any CC.
